The Motor Insurers Information Centre

The Motor Insurers Information Centre (MIIC) was established by the insurance industry to oversee, on their behalf the development and ongoing management of the Motor Insurance Database.

The 2005 time to suppy targets have been set, and so have the fines. Policyholders non compliance with the regulations is a criminal offence and can be fined upto £5,000.

Insuers fines at stage 2 is £250,000 and stage 3 £500,000 with stage 4 being expulsion from the MIB (Insurer no longer able to write motor insurance)
